name/nicknames: Danielle Marie, aka Dani, Da, the Mystery, Tits, I'll answer to Speccy or SGG, but pretty much if you're my friend, call me Dani, won't you? :D
age/dob: 31, July 19, 1985. That makes me a Cancer on the Leo cusp, and I really, really typify the stereotype of a Cancer. I'm emotional, caring, packratty, a homebody. So far my thirties are treating me well.
height: 5'4"
location: I am living in Rensselaer, NY.
gender: female
ethnicity: 1/4 Irish, 1/4 Portuguese, 1/4 Italian, 1/4 German. I don't look very German. I have an Italian nose and Portuguese hips and an Irish last name. xD I'm pale, argumentative, and if you come to my house I will try to feed you. My mother says I'm Western European Heinz 57.
sexual orientation: pansexual. I'm more attracted to people than what genitals those people have.
relationship status: I'm dating a gamer boy named Spencer. He's a nerd. I love him.
pets: one cat, The Butcher (who lives in MA with my parents)
education: I got my bachelor's degree in 2012. I graduated magna cum laude with distinction in Psychology from Wells College.
employment: I am a library clerk in the Collection Management Services department of the Albany Public Library.
religion: raised Wesleyan Christian, lost my faith at age 14, now agnostic with spiritual leanings and a healthy amount of respect for most religions. I'm awesome at reading tarot cards though.
politically: Progressive/liberal
tattoos: a rat on my left collarbone, a lizard on my right collarbone, the VFD eye on my left ankle, a semicolon behind my right ear, and a parenthetical ellipsis behind my left ear, irises on my right ankle, Starfleet insignia on my left forearm, Minerva the owl on my right forearm, the Albany skyline and "I swear I'd burn this city down to show you the light" on my left hip, "let there exist for us not one single further sorrow" on my right hip, DJ Pusheen on my outer left ankle, the coordinates to Wells college on my outer right ankle, a broken teacup fixed with gold with the lyrics "there is a crack in everything, that's how the light gets in" on my left thigh, Dana Scully's silhouette with an alien abduction inside it on my right thigh, a pair of bluejay wings on my back with the lyrics "squint your eyes and hope real hard, maybe sprout wings", and an Espeon on my left forearm with the lyrics "small and fierceful, brave and peaceful". Plans for more.

backstory »
online: I have had my journal since 2001. I was a permanent account holder on LJ, and didn't leave until the Russians changed the TOS and I just couldn't let them keep a hold on that much of my life. I don't post anywhere near as often as I used to...maybe once every couple of months, now. I mostly just post updates about what's been going on in my life. I'd like to post more, but I honestly don't know if I'll remember to do it with any regularity. I have a lot of side journals for different kinds of writing-- one for fanfic, one for original fic, and one for poetry.

I used to write a lot of fanfiction. I also used to record audiofic. I haven't done that in a couple of years. I do still write, but mostly original fiction.

I keep a list of fanfic recs on my Delicious, if you're looking for something to read. They're sorted by fandom, pairing and genre. If you want to know what music I've been listening to (and I am kind of a music snob), you can check my last.fm page. I share many, many playlists at 8tracks.com. If you want to download music, have at my MediaFire folders that still miraculously work! If you want to find me on other sites, here's my Facebook which I use constantly, my PaperBackSwap, my incredibly rarely-used DeviantArt, and my profile on YouJustGetMe that I wish more people would do because I am really interested in psychology and this thing is nifty.

irl: This is my family. I'm the eldest of four children. Julia ([livejournal.com profile] 91cemeterydrive) is 25, and she's the one I have most in common with of my siblings. She has a very cynical way of looking at the world. Rachael is 23 and loves her job working with developmentally delayed adults. My brother Dennis is 29 and he and his two beautiful pit bulls are in Montana. I worry about him a lot.

Mental health issues run in my family, from both sides. I am on a couple different kinds of medication to manage my depressive-bipolar issues-- Geodon and Wellbutrin. I don't mind it; honestly having to take them every day is one of the few daily routines I keep to in my life. Julia is bipolar, too, and Rachael has really bad anxiety, and I just found out my mother's been put on Prozac, so we're almost all nuts. I drink infrequently, smoke pot a few times a month, and very infrequently I Robotrip. I used to smoke cigarettes seasonally but I think I've given it up for good now.

I work at the Washington Avenue branch of the Albany Public Library as a library clerk in Collection Management Services. I like it a lot. I don't have to deal with the public and I get to handle all the new materials before anyone else. I also teach a monthly jewelry making class for the Delaware branch. I make jewelry and fleece blankets for my Etsy store. I watch a lot of TV shows. I write poetry, and I published my own chapbook in February 2013.

I lived in Plattsburgh, NY for nine years. I lived in Auburn for three years, attended Wells College for two years, and right now I am living in Rensselaer across the river from Albany.

I wrote my thesis on creativity and bipolar disorder, and I got an A on it. I pulled a straight 4.0 for my entire senior year. Mostly I made it through because whenever I started to panic, Phillip would tell me "Everything is going to be fine," and I believed him.

My relationship history is checkered. I've tried monogamy, polyamory, and celibacy. Weirdly, I was happiest and most productive while I was celibate, but I'm happy to be in love again.
